“Living Proof”

Many of the earlier cultures in the South Western Regions of North America and other parts of the world practiced the concepts of Quadruple Bottom Line™. (People,Planet,Profit,Spirituality) during the same chronological time period.
Pueblo Bonito in Chaco Canyon, NM is thought to be the spiritual center of the region, drawing worshipers from as far away as Mexico, with trade extending well into Central America.
The individual buildings are aligned not so much to solar geometry as they are to 36 year lunar cycles, which in itself is pretty fascinating. But when you learn that they are also aligned with “sister buildings” 50 miles away it gets a bit more intriguing.
Farms extended for miles in each direction and what little water there was, was stored on site or brought in by visitors (remember no horses yet). All the wood for the multi story structures came from over 60 miles away and was also walked in.
One of the more fascinating things was that these structures were not inhabited fulltime. They were designed solely for “special occasions” and are still considered sacred by local Pueblo People. Literally hundreds of rooms, left vacant most of the time.
Why they were abandoned is still a matter of study and speculation. Many believe that the inhabitants evolved to a level of godly-ness that required their annihilation. Others feel it was simply a matter of reduced natural resources due to persistent drought.
The interesting thing about any of these theories is that in a 500 mile radius, all of these sites were abandoned at just about the same time (1100 a.d.) with the remaining legends folded into the oral history of regional tribes for future generations.
